The music industry is rapidly declining, due to the transformation from analogue to digital media storage devices music is now thought of as free by a whole generation due to the ability to share music and transfer it to many different forms of storage device meaning music can be passed from person to person for little to no cost. Aka, piracy, 

Piracy is a fast growing problem to some however can also be considered the rebirth of the music industry, there are many reasons for and against piracy given by both downloaders, artists and others involved in the music industry. 

There are four main players in the music industry EMI, Universal, Sony and Warner.. But arguably there's one that tops them all, illegal downloading and the use of websites such as youtube which can be accessed from virtually anywhere to listen to virtually anything are causing the music industry to struggle to come to terms with the new technology.
