The music industry

Entertainment/music shop

The music industry has changed over the years, more people are listening to music but the methods they use to do so is becoming a problem. In the past people would buy albums from record shops, yet now people prefer downloading digital copies through sites like iTunes. The increase of digital downloads has put a strain on many companies such as HMV which has had to close many of it's branches. Many people also download music illegally through file sharing sites, P2P and YouTube converters.
Due to such problems in the music industry a number of changes have occurred. In the past  music videos would be freely accessible on websites such as YouTube but recently music videos have been taken down due to copyright claims. The industry perhaps does not like how consumers can watch music videos on demand without "paying". Due to this companies such as VEVO have uploaded music videos owned by them but with an advert at the start of the video.
